Live & Local :: Shook Twins
Experiencing a Shook Twins performance is like seeing double while hearing one perfect harmonious sound. Katelyn and Laurie Shook, the small-town identical twins from Sandpoint, Idaho, come fully loaded with equally mesmerizing pipes, multi-instrumental talents and quirky attitudes. In simply listening it’s obvious these two have been together since conception. They seamlessly combine guitar, banjo, slide, mandolin, glockenspiel, upright bass, ocarina, djembe and loop and wah-wah pedals to create an impressive homegrown vibe. Every once in a while Katelyn will sing into a telephone microphone or Laurie will drop a beatbox loop. To top it off, their vocal harmonies blend and weave in a way that only twins can achieve—a rare and delightful treat to the ears.
The ladies relocated to Portland and recently celebrated the April release of Window (Buy Here), a full-length album with an eerie, progressive-folk and slightly sassy ambiance. They have since played a slew of shows around the Northwest, including multiple performances at the Oregon Country Fair, and are continuing to tour throughout the summer. My advice: see these girls as soon as possible. They will make you want to laugh, cry, dance, and sit motionless all at once.
Upcoming shows in Oregon:

2 Beardy Folks Said...:
Happened to stumble upon your post and must say: Ditto your comments on these sisters. The folks here in their hometown will tell you, they are one of our best exports. If they're playing near you, don't miss the show!
these girls are generic, bland and immature but they sure can sing
